Hypothetical Identity
and Collateral
Opaline offers a captivating array of handcrafted jewelry pieces inspired by the enchanting beauty of nature. Each piece embodies a timeless charm and sophistication, reflecting the brand's commitment to ethically sourced gemstones, glass, and precious metals. With an energy that is ethereal, timeless, and graceful, Opaline's collection celebrates the natural world's elegance in every design. Their values, rooted in ethical sourcing and the pursuit of beauty, resonate through each piece, inviting wearers to embrace the essence of timeless elegance.

In crafting the identity system for Opaline, my goal was to encapsulate the brand's essence of timeless grace while paying homage to the rich history behind the brand's namesake. I was inspired by the opaline glassmaking process of the 1800s, and found the motifs of flowers and birds in these pieces to evoke a sense of timeless elegance and grace. I pulled the cotton candy pink and sky blue of the brand's color palette from the popular colors of opaline glass.

To emulate a client project, I utilized AI to create an imaginary brand complete with a name, mission, values, industry, and target audience. Based on these elements, I developed a mood board and word map to capture the brand's values and vibe, which guided the selection of brand colors, typefaces, and early identity system concepts. After researching the namesake, analyzing fine jewelry competitors, and gathering additional insights, I began ideating and designing the wordmark and logo. See my mood board and iteration below.
